Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage has been practiced in various forms across india for around 5000 years. It traditionally concentrated on the head - to improve circulation, and the hair - to provide nourishment, but was also a very important form of family bonding. It reached the west in the early 1980's - developed by Narendra Mehta - who having come here to train as a physiotherapist, discovered that all forms of massage therapy stopped at the neck! Over a period of time he took elements of the indian therapy and devised a treatment that took into account Western needs and tastes. He extended the therapy to the neck, face, shoulders and upper arms making it a complete therapy that could bring benefit to a multitude of problems.

Indian Head Massage involves working with oil on areas of the head, face, neck, shoulder and upper back and arms.

By using alternating firm and gentle strokes muscles are warmed and stimulated, allowing for any build up of muscular or mental tension to be relieved and released. It is relaxing and invigorating, gentle and stimulating.

it is and excellent stress management treatment and needs to be experienced to be fully understood!

Treatment is given sitting in a chair and requires the top half of the body to be free of clothing as access by the therapist is needed - modesty is respected at all times and towels and boob tubes (for the girls!) are used.

The treatment can be given without the use of oil.

As with all forms of therapy, prior to your first treatment, a short consultation detailing your health and lifestyle takes place.

All information given is confidential. It is very important your therapist be made aware of any health issues you may have because even though massage is safe, there are certain medical conditions that may prohibit treatment taking place.
