Massage Therapy

RELAXATION / REMEDIAL

Massage has been part of the worlds cures for thousands of years.

It involves the manipulation of soft tissues of the body treating both superficial and deep muscles, tendons and ligaments. It has been used to relieve pain and anxiety, to stimulate the body into healing and clearing itself of the build up of metabolic waste. It is also believed to bring about a feeling of mental and physical relaxation and well-being.

It is said that this feeling is brought about by stimulating nerve endings that trigger the release of endorphins, the body's natural 'feel good' chemicals and by inhibiting stress hormones. It is also said to act on the body's circulation to supply fresh blood and nutrients to muscles and tissues enabling them to function more efficiently. It's said to improve skin tone and stimulate the lymphatic system which clears away waste products from the body that can cause pain and stiffness in the muscle joints.

RELAXATION - a gentle, soothing massage to rid the body of surface stress and tension possibly releasing some muscle tension.

REMEDIAL - a deeper, firming massage used not only to relax, as the above massage, but to specifically treat stiff, tense and sore muscles and to break down any adhesions caused by overuse of a muscle.

Be it a gentle, relaxing massage or a firmer more stimulating treatment that you decide upon, you may notice how much looser and more relaxed you feel. You may be inclined to try it again!

Whichever type of massage you choose, relaxational, remedial - or even a combination of both - you will be required to undress. Towels are used for warmth and to respect modesty at all times. The massage may be a full body treatment or just working on specific areas, so the therapist will adapt each treatment to each client's individual needs accordingly.

As with all forms of therapy, prior to your first treatment, a short consultation detailing your health and lifestyle takes place.

All information given is confidential. It is very important your therapist be made aware of any health issues you may have because even though massage is safe, there are certain medical conditions that may prohibit treatment taking place.
