Your first treatment at Carlton Chiropractic will entail the recording of your present condition, your symptoms, how it began etc. Your medical history, present lifestyle, accidents will also be recorded as these may give an indication as to what is going on and aid diagnosis.

 

A physical, neurological and orthopaedic examination will be carried out as necessary.

This means your reflexes, sensations to the affected area, muscles strength and the joints in that area are tested. This helps confirm diagnosis and suitability for chiropractic treatment. The tests are nothing to be worried about, they may generate some of the discomfort you have been feeling but this is only momentary. You will be required to remove your outer garments but a modesty gown is provided.

 

Once a diagnosis has been made and explained to you and a treatment plan has been agreed, then you may proceed to treatment if that is what you wish. If additional information is required then a referral will be made to your GP.

The treatment itself is very gentle to receive due to the fast, low force adjustment techniques used. Soft tissue work is also done, as required, to aid the body's healing and reduce painful symptoms.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS?

Your recovery time will depend on many factors: age, fitness, severity of condition, duration of condition etc and this will be discussed and agreed with you at your initial consultation before treatment begins. However, most people experience some improvement after their first treatment.

Additional advice about posture, work-station set-up, exercising etc is also offered to aid your recovery and prevent the condition from reoccurring.
